This guard bird was found in Cedar Key, Florida. It sits on a railing looking out over the water. It is supposed to scare away other birds, like crows and seagulls. Unfortunately for its reputation, a crow sat right next to it without fear!

I think those birds quickly figure out that there is nothing to fear.

OK, Lowell, it's posted. I love your photo! That eye is soooooo right there! Funny about the crow. Birds are not stupid.

I don't think they work very well against squirrels. Ours have found a new way into the attic. :S
